So Far, Where to Start- oh Yes, Christmas

I feel like I have been on a whirlwind. A typhoon, a tornado, a tsunami, rather. I am writing this reflection from Mumbai, India, because despite my best efforts I have yet to be able to steal a moment away from the action to reflect. Alas, I have- and it is so hard, as I seem reeling with tendencies to get up and SEE something, experience something- slowing down to write, download, seems almost futile - I digress- I have been traversing the globe with the best person in the entire universe, my bestie and husband, Peter, for 9 days, thus far. It all started the day after the most fabulous and fun Christmas Party my man and I put together to celebrate the festivities of Christmas with family before we left the next morning. Here are some photo highlights:

Stay tuned for posts on Paris, Dubai, and incredible India!

Out with Fall Tradition

No, No, No it's NOT... a traditional fall line! Jil Sander's Raf Simon's farewell fall 2012 collection displays floral blooms encased like a preservationists ode to a quick fading ephemera. I love the color palette. A strong note to end on! Check out some highlights via coco+kelley.

Take me to the Country

Take me to Wiemar, Texas to be exact! This country escape is about 2 hours outside of Houston and boasts a German heritage. It is home to MG Feed and Grains, a stones throw from the fabulous Senglemann Hall, and contains a plethora of wonderful people. I have gotten to know this retreat through a my love, Peter. His family owns and operates... but mainly relaxes there. This is not just any farm, but, Wild Oak Farm (a.k.a Luca's little piece of heaven).

Below are some shots of peaceful landscapes, panting dogs, rosemary gardens, windswept plains and men at work... I enjoy this place...

best y'all

Bering & James Presents… ARTBOX 2009! Year 6!! It's the most wonderful time of the year 12pm-10pm December 4th 2009 At Bering & James

The time for Holiday Cheer and Off the Chart Rock-n-roll Merriment is upon us! For 10 months we have seen our “raw” art boxes fly out the door in the hands of very talented Houston Artists, and the hands of our very own Artist stable!!! (Did someone say J. Antonio Farfan & John Jenkins ARTBOX?)...Our hearts over joy with the fact that our holiday artists are working in their "work-shops", studios and the occasional shared apartment, to create wonderful art. Each finished Art Box will sell for $125.00, of which a portion of each sale benefits DePelchin Children’s Center!!!! .. Currently with 200 participating Artists and about 350 total ArtBoxes…The Houston art collecting population and Bering & James celebrate what we call.... ARTBOX 2009!!!!!

ARTBOX 2009 opens Friday December 4th from 12pm to 10pm and Saturday December 5th from 12pm -6pm for our two day Extravaganza! Holiday drinks will be served all day so arrive early... or late.. for the ARTBOX 09’s day to night Fa La La La La shindig!! Bering & James will be open Monday –Saturday from 9am-5pm the entire month of December for the ARTBOX 09 show... As the saying goes... the early bird always gets the Candy Cane….so come December 4th to get first grabs!

NEW to ARTBOX 2009… We are back to basics. All art boxes have returned to their original size... the origination of the ARTBOX 6 years ago began with the 12x12... We have brought it back!!! The 12x12 is the only size for artistic interpretation this year!! The gallery will be quilted in original art at an affordable price and benefiting DePelchin Children’s Center... what a better gift to give than philanthropic ART!!

Bering & James is located at 805 Rhode Place, Suite 500, and our phone number is 713/524-0101. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the gallery. We'd like to say THANKS to all our artists for your participation and support, and we look forward to a wonderful ARTBOX 2009! Hope to see you there…

Allegories by John Jenkins; $100 original art going fast

Pronunciation: \ˈa-lə-ˌgor-ē\: Function: noun; Inflected Form(s): plural al·le·go·ries; to speak figuratively 1 : the expression by means of symbolic fictional figures and actions of truths or generalizations about human existence; also : an instance (as in a story or painting) of such expression 2 : a symbolic representation (Merriam-Webster online, 2009)...

Artist phenom, John Jenkins creates genius again. Jenkins, well known for his detailed imagery juxtaposing science, technology, humanistic laws and theories with the laws of the universe and beyond, has created a new series of work intended to be the successor of the Corollaries Series (his last stroke of artistic genius, thus proving he has more than one rabbit in his hat). I now speak of Allegories; a beautiful thought process playing off of, well, the 14th century "figure of speech" (re: definition above); evocative, mentally provoking and miniature, these lovely beauties are now hitting the art market.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Jenkins for several years now and I must say his work is magical, metaphorical, and oozing talent beyond the everyday painter.. of which I see daily. I would like to invite everyone to John's personal display of his new series, Allegories on December 6th 2009 from 6-10 p.m. Location- Houston, TX-although not where one would normally think (if you know me).. but a new location.. send me an e-mail for the disclosure of this wonderful semi-private.. art sale of the 8"x8" gorgeous display of acrylic on canvas.. for yes, ONLY $100.00!!! each. The art can also be purchased online here, mention this blog and receive special all-star status.. check out the images above.. contact me if you'd like to get in on this underground art action! I'll definitely be there... to snag the unreleased, only available on location last 14 Allegories. See you there!
